The Chicago Bulls defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 85-75 Wednesday night at the Target Center.

Chicago's defense limted the Timberwolves to nine points in the first and the fourth quarter. "Realistically, after two quarters with nine points, we had a chance to win the game. I do like that about our guys," Randy Wittman said. They hung in there from a defensive standpoint, and we've stressed it all October. They hung in there and they gave themselves a chance to win."

Minnesota got back into the game with a 13-2 run in the second period. The defense held the Bulls scoreless for nearly five minutes.

Al Jefferson scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Minnesota.Rashad McCants also scored 19, including 11 straight in a 2-minute stretch late in the third quarter to pull the Timberwolves within four points after trailing by double-digits for most of the first half. Randy Foye finished in double figures with 12 points.

Second year player Corey Brewer scored two points with two assist and one rebound.

McCants knocked down a 3-pointer with 7:42 to play. The Bulls scored seven unanswered points to pull away late in the contest.

Larry Hughes scored 21 point before leaving the game with a dislocated right shoulder.

Bulls rookie Derrick Rose added 17 points. Andres Nocioni scored 12 points and Luol Deng chipped in 10.
