The Minnesota Timberwolves pulled out a 98-96 victory over the Sacramento Kings Wednesday night at the Target Center.

Six players reached double-figures in scoring for the TImberwolves with Al Jefferson leading the way with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Rookie Kevin Love made a big splash in his regular season debut scoring 12 points and grabbing nine boards in limited playing action.

Both teams kept the scoring close in the first quarter, the Timberwolves led after the first quarter of play 33-32.

The defense for the Timberwolves stepped up in the second quarter. Corey Brewer had two steals and two dunks and held the Kings to 17 points in the stanza.

Sacramento finished the game strong in the second half. John Salmons scored 21 of his 24 points in the second half.

The Kings had plenty of chances late in the contest to tie or take the lead, but came up short in the contest.

Rashad McCants added 15, Randy Foye and Ryan Gomes each chipped in 12 points. Mike Miller in his Minnesota debut scored 11 points.

Brewer finished the game with a great line scoring eight points, seven rebounds, four assist, three steals, and no turnovers in 26 minutes of action.
