The Minnesota Timberwolves ended their eight game losing streak Wednesday night with a 102-96 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Al Jefferson and Craig Smith came up big for the Timberwolves in the win. Jefferson scored six of his 25 points in the final 3 1/2 minutes to save the victory.

Some of the Timberwolves defeats have come by six points or fewer and with Minnesota ahead at some point in the fourth quarter. It looked to be going that way again against Philadelphia when Andre Iguodala's three-point play cut an 11-point lead to 92-91.

But Jefferson made three straight baskets to get the lead to 94-91.

MIke Miller hit a big three point shot with 30 seconds remaing to give the Wolves a 98-94 lead.

Corey Brewer and Randy Foye hit four consecutive free throws to seal the victory for the home team.

Smith scored a season-high 21 points and matched a career best with five assists, and Mike Miller had 10 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for the Wolves, who won for the first time since the season opener against Sacramento.

Two of the three former Sixers on the Wolves - Kevin Ollie and Calvin Booth - were inactive and the third - Rodney Carney - did not play.

Brewer finished the game with six points and grabbed one rebound.

The Timberwolves will play host to the Boston Celtics Friday night.
