Celtics bury the Timberwolves PDF Print E-mail

Kevin Garnett's first trip to the Target Center was one that most Timberwolves fans would hope to forget as the Celtics routed the Timberwolves 95-78.

Despite having a 39-36 halftime lead the Timberwolves were outscored in the third quarter by the Celtics 35-10.

In his first game on the court since being traded before last season, Garnett scored 17 points in his homecoming.

"It's always good to go somewhere and feel the love in the building,'' Garnett said. "It's even better to win in the place I used to play."

Garnett was injured in Boston's only game here last season.

One of the key parts in the trade that sent KG to the Celtics, Al Jefferson led the Timberwolves in scoring with 23 points. Jefferson was perfect from the free throw line making all seven attempts.

The trio of KG, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen combined for the Celtics 40 points in the lead. Boston with all of the talent back looking for a second straight NBA title likes to get everyone involved instead of the player first approach. Three other players reached double figures in scoring for the Celtics.

Sebastian Telfair was the only other Timberwolves player to reach double figures in scoring with 13 points.

Corey Brewer scored two points in limited game action.
