The Phoenix Suns jumped out to a big first half lead and held on to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-102.

Phoenix have lost three of their last four gamess at the Target Center.

A rested Shaquille O'Neal proved to be the difference in the game. The big man had 18 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.

The Suns came out hot making 14 of their first 20 shots agains the Timberwolves. The visitors led by 16 points at halftime with a 59-43 lead.

Minnesota cut into the lead at the start of the third quarter. The Wolves scored six straight points to start the half.  They outscored the Suns 29-21 in the period as the Phoenix lead was 80-72.

Minnesota continued to pressure the Suns as the cut the lead down to five points late in the final period and pulled within six in the final minute.

Missed free throws and 17 turnovers played a big part in the Timberwolves loss.

The Timberwolves made 17 of 28 free throws.

Al Jefferson led the Timberwolves in scoring with 28 points and 17 rebounds, including a franchise-record 12 on the offensive end.

Randy Foye finished with 17 points and Ryan Gomes added 16 points.

Rashad McCants played after missing 2 1/2 games with a back spasms, he finished with 12 points in 10 minutes of action.

Corey Brewer made three of five shots from the field for six points. 

Steve Nash added 20 points and six assists in 27 minutes for the Suns.

Minnesota will travel to Oklahoma City Friday night for a game with the Thunder.
